This Superman (Jason Isaacs) is the child of a doomed Krypton who lands in Ukraine, not Kansas, and grows up on a collective farm. The Soviet authorities find him, and by the 1950s he serves Joseph Stalin as a symbol of the state, with Lois Lane (Amy Acker) and Lex Luthor (Diedrich Bader) pulled into the Cold War around him. Sam Liu adapts Mark Millar's comic, which sets one man's enormous strength against the state that claims it.
