“What is your function in life?”

In Tokyo, five stories start side by side with no sign they belong together. Aman (Tadanobu Asano) is a husband who keeps burying his wife Mimi (Reika Hashimoto), only to find her back at the table, while Yoko (Kyoko Koizumi) runs a commercial shoot and a hypnotist (Hiroshi Abe) works his stage. Gen Sekiguchi lets each strand play out at its own deadpan pace, and Aman keeps digging.
