On Christmas Eve, a stuck screenwriter named Mark Christopher (Dick Powell) gets an unexpected knock from a police sergeant, who has brought a young delinquent named Susan (Debbie Reynolds) to his door. She might inspire his script, and she gets a place to spend the holidays outside juvenile hall. Frank Tashlin shoots it in Technicolor, and Mark has until the holiday ends to find out whether a girl on loan can stay in his house without costing him his life.
