Suspicion

Lina McLaidlaw Aysgarth (Joan Fontaine) is a sheltered heiress who elopes with Johnnie Aysgarth (Cary Grant), a charming playboy. Once they are married, she learns he gambles and owes money to people who expect to be paid. As his lies pile up and others around them meet mysterious ends, she begins to suspect her husband means to kill her. Hitchcock keeps the camera close on her face and lets every glass of milk and every late return home carry the doubt.
