Susie (Dakota Johnson) moves to Berlin to study at an elite dance academy under Madame Blanc (Tilda Swinton). The school's rehearsal rooms are vast and mirrored, and a coven of witches runs the institution through ritual and choreography. Guadagnino stages the dances as architectural spectacles, baroque and precise, the camera lingering on flesh and shadow until the beautiful and the terrible become the same thing.
