Suzanne's Career

In early 1960s Paris, Bertrand (Philippe Beuzen), a shy pharmacy student, spends his evenings with his friend Guillaume (Christian Charrière), who treats seduction as a pastime. Éric Rohmer, working on a small budget, follows them through cafés and apartments while Guillaume takes up with Suzanne (Catherine Sée), a woman who pays his way. Bertrand watches the two of them, unsure whether he envies his friend or pities her.
