Swann in Love

“Volker Schlöndorff's Masterly Film”

Charles Swann (Jeremy Irons), a wealthy aristocrat in Belle Époque Paris, is introduced to Odette de Crécy (Ornella Muti), a lower-class woman who seduces him and does not love him in return. Volker Schlöndorff adapts a self-contained section of the first volume of Proust's In Search of Lost Time. Swann keeps coming back to her, and his devotion costs him more with every visit.
