Sweet and Lowdown
Emmet Ray (Sean Penn) is a jazz guitarist in the 1930s who thinks he is the second best in the world, after Django Reinhardt, and gets nervous when anyone brings up the name. He is also a gambler and a braggart who keeps the wrong company, including gangsters. Woody Allen frames his story with critics and biographers, and Emmet is last seen with his guitar and Hattie (Samantha Morton), who never says a word.
