Sweet Bean

“A small little Dorayaki shop on the outskirts of Tokyo.”

Sentaro (Masatoshi Nagase) wants only to get through each shift at the small dorayaki shop he runs, flipping pancakes on the griddle and sending customers on their way. Then Tokue (Kirin Kiki), a 76-year-old woman, asks him for a job, and her sweet bean paste starts drawing people from all over. Naomi Kawase gives the paste its own patient scenes, and Sentaro has to decide how far he will go to keep a woman who is hiding a troubling secret.
