Sweet Bird of Youth

“He used love like most men use money.”

In 1962, a hotel in Chance Wayne's Gulf Coast hometown takes in a drifter who left years ago under pressure from the local politician Tom "Boss" Finley (Ed Begley). Chance (Paul Newman) arrives as the companion of Alexandra Del Lago (Geraldine Page), a faded movie star he hopes will get him into pictures. His old girlfriend Heavenly (Shirley Knight) is the Boss's daughter, which puts his return in plain view of the man who sent him away.
