“Justice itself is put on trial”

Sam Kelly (Hamilton Morris) is an Aboriginal stockman in the Central Australian outback of 1929, a man who wants only to work the land and be left alone. When he shoots a white station owner in self-defense, he runs, and a posse led by Sergeant Fletcher (Bryan Brown) rides out behind him. Warwick Thornton sets the chase in a country where one man's word will not stand against another's, and Sam's life hangs on whether anyone will hear it.
