Patsy Cline (Jessica Lange) wants to sing country music for a living and wants her name on the records, and she has the voice to do both. Karel Reisz follows her from the early gigs into the years of fame, with Charlie Dick (Ed Harris) at her side, and with the promoter Randy Hughes (David Clennon) pushing her career forward. She takes what she wants from music and from love, and she pays for both.
