Sweet Sixteen

“Life... it's about to hit the fan!”

Liam (Martin Compston) is fifteen, turning sixteen, and he has one plan: a place of his own for his mother to come home to when she gets out of prison. To pay for it he starts selling and running drugs around Greenock, Port Glasgow and Gourock, with his friend Pinball (William Ruane) beside him. Ken Loach films the Inverclyde streets plainly, in ordinary daylight, and lets the boy's accent and his hurry carry the scenes.
