Sweet Thing

Billie (Lana Rockwell) and her younger brother Nico (Nico Rockwell) want out from under a father whose playfulness turns to tears when he drinks, and a mother who is mostly gone. Alexandre Rockwell shoots their world in black and white, and their friendship with a boy named Malik sends the three of them on a run of risk and freedom. Under the adventure is plain loyalty, children holding onto each other because the adults can't be counted on.
