Swept from the Sea

“In the heart of an outcast, he found his destiny. In the passion of an outsider, she found her home.”

Yanko (Vincent Perez) staggers out of the water onto the Cornish shore in 1888, the lone survivor of an emigrant ship bound for America. He reaches a farm sick and starving, and everyone he meets backs away from him except Amy Foster (Rachel Weisz), a servant who brings him food. Beeban Kidron, adapting Joseph Conrad's story, films the Cornish coast as a place that keeps its distance from strangers.
