“Love gone mad. History gone bad.”

Nathan Leopold Jr. (Craig Chester) and Richard Loeb (Daniel Schlachet) spend their afternoons breaking into storefronts, bound by a sexual bond and a shared contempt for ordinary rules. Tom Kalin reconstructs the 1924 case that followed from the kidnapping and murder of a young boy, with State's Attorney Crowe (Ron Vawter) building the prosecution. It treats the killers' homosexuality as central to how the public and the courts saw them.
