“It's just a game... Or so I thought—”

In 2026, everyone is playing Ordinal Scale, an augmented reality game on the new Augma headset that lays monsters and boss fights over ordinary streets. Kirito (Yoshitsugu Matsuoka) joins Asuna (Haruka Tomatsu) and the rest of his old party after they have been at it for a while, and Tomohiko Ito sends them into a game that is not all fun. Kirito stands in the middle of the crowded street in his black coat, the Augma on his head, a sword in his hand.
