Sylvia Scarlett

(1935)Directed by George Cukor97 minComedy, Drama, Romance
“You will thrill to every unforgettable moment of this different, charming love story of a woman who almost waited too long... before she dared admit that she was a woman!”

In 1935, Sylvia Scarlett (Katharine Hepburn) has to leave for England with her father Henry (Edmund Gwenn), who is running from the police. She cuts her hair and becomes Sylvester, a boy, and the pair fall in with a small band of drifters, among them the scruffy Jimmy Monkley (Cary Grant). George Cukor keeps the disguise going from one scene to the next, and the film stays on how little a person's clothes say about who they are.
