“Face your past. Choose your future.”

Twenty years after he left, Renton (Ewan McGregor) comes back to Edinburgh, where his old friends Simon (Jonny Lee Miller), Spud (Ewen Bremner) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) are waiting, older and no luckier. Danny Boyle, returning to the first film's world, sets the reunion in the same streets and flats, now with a newcomer, Veronika (Anjela Nedyalkova). Time has passed for everyone, and the friendships carry the weight of what each of them did and left behind.
