Taira Clan Saga

In Japan in 1137, a rumor follows young Taira Kiyomori (Raizō Ichikawa): that he is no true son of the Taira house, and that the clan's blood has gone somewhere it shouldn't. Kenji Mizoguchi sets the Taira samurai between Emperor Toba and the monks of Mount Hiei, two powers that both expect to be obeyed. Tadamori (Ichijirō Oya) and his family must choose a side, and either choice puts the clan's standing at risk.
