Take Shelter

“Far away from the cruel world.”

Curtis LaForche (Michael Shannon) has started dreaming of a vast storm and waking with the dread still on him, and the visions follow him into the daytime. He has a wife, Samantha (Jessica Chastain), and a young daughter, Hannah (Tova Stewart), and he can't tell whether the danger is coming for them or lives in his own head. Jeff Nichols builds the film from small, ordinary moments, letting the unease build slowly until it fills each scene.
