Take the Lead

“Never Follow”

Pierre Dulaine (Antonio Banderas), a former professional ballroom dancer, volunteers to teach in the New York public schools, hoping to give kids a reason to stand up straight and move together. His students, including Rock (Rob Brown) and LaRhette (Yaya DaCosta), want nothing to do with his formal steps. Liz Friedlander sets Pierre's polished ballroom against the students' own street moves, and the two start trading steps until a new style forms between them.
