Taking Off

(1971)Directed by Miloš Forman93 min · RMusic, Comedy, Drama
“"Taking Off" is about people. People like your neighbor. People like the family down the street. People like yourself.”

Jeannie Tyne leaves home one night, and her parents, Larry (Buck Henry) and Lynn (Lynn Carlin), go looking in a New York City they barely recognize. Their search puts them in rooms with other couples whose children have also vanished, and the parents start learning what their kids' world is like. Miloš Forman's camera stays with the Tynes, an ordinary couple, in a grainy, cluttered city that never looks arranged.
