“A generation began in his backyard.”
Elliot Teichberg (Demetri Martin) is stuck helping his parents Sonia (Imelda Staunton) and Jake (Henry Goodman) keep their run-down motel in White Lake, New York from going under. When a neighboring town pulls the permit on a hippie music festival, he phones the producers, thinking a few paying guests might save the place. Ang Lee fills the summer of 1969 with warm, hazy light and a crowd that keeps spilling over the edges of the frame.
