Tale of Tales

(2015)Directed by Matteo Garrone134 min · RRomance, Fantasy, Horror
“Desire. Envy. Obsession.”

The Queen of Longtrellis (Salma Hayek Pinault) will risk anything to have a child. Elsewhere, the King of Strongcliff (Vincent Cassel) falls for the voice of a girl he has never seen, and the King of Highhills (Toby Jones) grows so fond of a flea that he neglects his own daughter. Matteo Garrone draws on Basile's Pentamerone, and the whole film seems to wait on the three crowns the kings and queen wear.
