When developers move to tear down their military academy for condominiums, the cadets decide to take extreme measures to save it. Cadet Major Brian Moreland (Timothy Hutton) leads the students, with Alex Dwyer (Sean Penn) beside him, and Harold Becker films them at Valley Forge Military Academy. Moreland's loyalty to General Bache (George C. Scott), the old commandant who built the place and the boy's own code, tightens with every order he gives.
