In the 1980s, Daniel Léger (Antoine Olivier Pilon), a former heroin user, is sentenced to 100 years in a Thai prison after a drug deal goes wrong. In Canada, Globe and Mail reporter Victor Malarek (Josh Hartnett) reads of the conviction and starts going after the undercover cops behind it. Daniel Roby cuts between Bangkok and Malarek's cluttered desk, a prisoner and a journalist each sitting in a small room.
