James Parker (C. Aubrey Smith) and Harry Holt (Neil Hamilton) push an expedition into Africa after the elephant burial grounds, hoping the ivory will make them rich. Then Parker's daughter Jane (Maureen O'Sullivan) turns up unannounced, and Tarzan (Johnny Weissmüller) and his ape friends carry her off. W.S. Van Dyke builds a story about a woman who is frightened of the jungle and then, to her own surprise, not ready to leave it.
