Penny Appleby (Susan Strasberg), in a wheelchair, comes back to her father's estate after ten years away, and she is told he has gone abroad. Then she finds his dead body on the grounds, and each time she brings someone to see it, there is nothing there. Seth Holt builds the film around whether a young woman can believe her own eyes when everyone around her insists she cannot.
