Taxi Driver

(1976)Directed by Martin Scorsese114 min · RCrime, Drama
“On every street in every city in this country, there's a nobody who dreams of being somebody. He's a lonely forgotten man desperate to prove that he's alive.”

Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro) can't sleep, so he takes a night job driving a cab through a New York that looks to him like it needs scrubbing clean. Martin Scorsese keeps the camera in his passenger seat, and the hours stack up with nobody to talk to but fares, fellow drivers like Wizard (Peter Boyle), and Betsy (Cybill Shepherd). Every night he spends alone with that idea, a man with no one to answer to puts more of himself on the line.
