Tea with Mussolini

“A story of civilized disobedience”

In 1930s Florence, a boy named Luca is handed to Mary Wallace (Joan Plowright) after his mother dies and his businessman father wants no part of raising him. Mary and her circle of expatriate friends, among them the artist Arabella (Judi Dench), take him in and watch over him. Franco Zeffirelli draws on his own childhood, and when the Allies declare war on Mussolini, these women risk losing the home they built.
