Catalina Guzman (Ana Claudia Talancón) is a young girl in post-revolutionary Mexico who wants a life bigger than the one she was handed, and she finds it in the general Andres Ascencio (Daniel Giménez Cacho). Roberto Sneider adapts Ángeles Mastretta's novel and tells her marriage in her own voice, looking back on her girlhood. Every year of it is shaped by the powerful man at the other end of the table.
