Tehran, early in the 2000s, and the whole film takes place in one car moving through the city's traffic. Abbas Kiarostami frames the driver (Mania Akbari) and each passenger who gets in beside her with a camera fixed to the dashboard. The conversations that fill the front seat, above all those between her and her young son Amin (Amina Maher), are where the film finds what holds them together and what keeps pulling them apart.
