Terms of Endearment

The story runs across thirty years in the lives of Aurora Greenway (Shirley MacLaine), a fussy widow in Houston, and her grown daughter Emma (Debra Winger). Emma marries Flap Horton (Jeff Daniels) against her mother's wishes, and Aurora keeps up her opinions by phone while she looks for love of her own. James L. Brooks writes a mother and daughter who fight and forgive each other, over and over, because neither can stay away.
