That Cold Day in the Park

“How far will a woman go? How far will a 32 year-old spinster go to possess a strange, 19 year-old boy?”

Frances Austen (Sandy Dennis), a wealthy young spinster in Vancouver, spots a boy sitting out in the cold park beside her apartment and brings him inside. He is a teenager, and he does not speak. Robert Altman keeps the two of them in her rooms while the silence tightens her hold on him, and the longer he stays, the less she can bear to let him leave.
