That Day, on the Beach

In Taipei in 1983, two old friends meet again after thirteen years apart. Lin Jiali (Sylvia Chang) has just come back from a European tour as a concert pianist, and Tan Weiqing (Terry Hu) has just started a business of her own. Edward Yang, in his first feature, brought in Christopher Doyle to shoot it, and the cinematography later won a prize at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival.
