That Night

(1992)Directed by Craig Bolotin89 min · PG-13Drama, Romance
“In everyone's life there's a friendship you never forget.”

Alice Bloom (Eliza Dushku) is eleven, and all she wants is to be near her sixteen-year-old neighbor Sheryl O'Connor (Juliette Lewis), the girl everyone on the block talks about. Craig Bolotin, adapting Alice McDermott's novel, follows Alice as she watches Sheryl fall for Rick (C. Thomas Howell), a boy her mother Ann (Helen Shaver) wants nowhere near her. Alice sees the two of them clearly, and she never stops wanting to be Sheryl.
