Emma O'Conner (Jordan-Claire Green) is twelve when she is sent to live with her aunt in Doverville, a rural town worn thin by the Great Depression, and she wants the place to have a Christmas again. The people there have stopped celebrating, so she turns to the town's dogs and sets about getting them into a holiday pageant. Kieth Merrill directs it as a small-town story with a full cast of dogs and plain, warm storytelling.
