The 39 Steps

(1959)Directed by Ralph Thomas93 minThriller, Mystery
“The Most Suspenseful Manhunt in History!”

A British agent dies in London with a warning about a spy ring after the nation's military secrets, and the dying man's trouble passes to the nearest stranger. Richard Hannay (Kenneth More), a diplomat with no business in any of it, ends up holding what the agent knew, with Taina Elg's Miss Fisher among the faces he meets. Ralph Thomas remakes the Hitchcock picture as a story about an ordinary man answering for a secret he never asked to carry.
