“Their Host Was a Spectre … Their Hostess Disaster!”

Jim Daley (Donald Cook) is one of eight strangers who arrive at a penthouse apartment after an unsigned telegram tells them to come. Once they are inside, the doors lock, and a voice on the radio introduces their absent host and says the ninth guest at the table is Death. Roy William Neill keeps all of them in the one apartment, Jean Trent (Genevieve Tobin) among them, with the radio set and the table laid for nine.
