The Abominable Dr. Phibes

(1971)Directed by Robert Fuest95 min · PGHorror, Comedy
“Love means never having to say you're ugly.”

Dr. Anton Phibes (Vincent Price) blames the nine surgeons who attended his wife's operation for her death, and he has spent four years planning what to do about it. Each of his enemies, among them Dr. Vesalius (Joseph Cotten), is marked for a death drawn from the Ten Plagues of Egypt. Robert Fuest sets Vulnavia (Virginia North) beside Phibes in his house, the whole place thick with ornament, and the two of them move through it in costume.
