The Accused

“The first scream was for help. The second is for justice.”

Sarah Tobias (Jodie Foster) wants to be heard after a night in a bar that left her assaulted while onlookers cheered. Kathryn Murphy (Kelly McGillis), the prosecutor on her case, settles for a mild sentence, and Sarah refuses to let it stand. She pushes to charge the men who watched, which means taking the stand herself. Jonathan Kaplan shoots the courtroom plainly and leaves the cruelty of that night in the testimony.
