The Adjuster

(1991)Directed by Atom Egoyan102 minDrama, Mystery
“Some people work in mysterious ways.”

Noah (Elias Koteas) is an insurance adjuster who spends his days with people whose homes have just burned down, and he treats each of them with a patient, practiced calm. His wife Hera (Arsinée Khanjian) works as a film censor, and the two of them end up as landlords to a couple, Bubba (Maury Chaykin) and Mimi (Gabrielle Rose), whose tastes run strange. Egoyan puts the four of them in a motel, one of the rooms still empty, the hallway waiting.
