A man-cub is raised among wolves in the Indian jungle, with Baloo (Stepan Bubnov) and Bagheera (Lyudmila Kasatkina) looking after him as Shere Khan (Anatoliy Papanov) circles. The Soviet studio released it first as five shorts of about twenty minutes each, between 1967 and 1971, and Roman Davydov's feature gathers them into one story. Tabaqui (Sergei Martinson) keeps up his talk at the edges, and Aleksandr Nazarov voices both the father wolf and Kaa.
