Professor Moriarty has walked free of another trial, and he wants one thing now: to destroy Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) by making him fail to stop the perfect crime. Alfred L. Werker sets Holmes and Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) against a scheme that may involve a family curse or the crown jewels of England. The film is a contest between two minds, each trying to be the cleverer one.
