The African Queen

(1952)Directed by John Huston105 min · PGAdventure, Romance, War, Drama
“The greatest adventure a man ever lived… with a woman!”

Charlie Allnut (Humphrey Bogart) is a gin-soaked riverboat captain hauling supplies through the middle of Africa when the First World War reaches his stretch of river. Rose Sayer (Katharine Hepburn), a strong-willed missionary, talks him into taking his small boat downriver to face a German warship. John Huston sets a stubborn, unlikely pair on one narrow deck, and the whole story rests on whether they can stand each other.
