The Aftermath

Rachael Morgan (Keira Knightley) crosses to Hamburg after the war to join her husband Lewis (Jason Clarke), a British colonel posted there for the reconstruction. They are billeted in a requisitioned house, where its German owner, the widower Stefan Lubert (Alexander Skarsgård), is made to stay under the same roof. James Kent places three people in one house and shows how grief and old loyalties don't stay on their own side of a hallway.
