“The Mission That Became a Fortress! The Fortress That Became a Shrine!”

In 1836, a small garrison inside a crumbling mission in Texas waits for an army many times its size to arrive, and no one is sure why they would stay. Davy Crockett (John Wayne) comes to the fight with Jim Bowie (Richard Widmark), while Laurence Harvey's Col. William Travis holds the command, and Wayne also directed. The three men do not trust one another, yet each has chosen to stand behind the same walls.
