In the early 1970s, Mrs. Allen and her two children live in a cramped, squalid flat in Camden Town. Then Mr. Blunden (Laurence Naismith), a solicitor, offers them a derelict country mansion to look after. Lionel Jeffries has Lucy (Lynne Frederick) and Jamie (Garry Miller) meet two child ghosts there, and a potion carries them back to the ghosts' own century, where helping their new friends could cost them their way home.
