“For God's sake, get out!”

George Lutz (James Brolin) and his wife Kathy (Margot Kidder) move their three children into a Victorian mansion in Amityville, Long Island, bought cheap and with the house's past waved away. The family's days there bring strange visions and sudden violent impulses, and Father Delaney (Rod Steiger) is drawn in. Stuart Rosenberg stages the film inside the house itself, keeping the family close to its walls and the dread close to them.
